Fort Conde Historic Museum
and Visitor Center of Mobile
Here should a visit of Mobile begin: the replica of the historic 18th-century French
fort is at the same time the Visitor and Welcome Center of the city
and is located conveniently in downtown.
Mobile went through several historical eras: first the French (1711-1763), then the British (1763-1780) and later the Spanish era (1780-1813). All left their marks on the city. Costumed guards offer an insight into the historic events and tours.
Departing every day from Ft. Conde, the Bay City Tour Trolley offers
a two-hour narrated tour through the historic downtown area and travels by the Alabama State Docks and makes a special stop at one of Mobile's antebellum museum homes.
Another way to relax is the Cooper Riverside Park,
which is located directly south of the Convention Center. From
here you enjoy a fantastic view on the Mobile River.
