Los Angeles

California

Westside: L.A. Farmers Market

The original Farmers Market was created in 1934 when 18 farmers parked their trucks on vacant land at Gilmore Ranch to sell fresh produce to “locals” who flocked to the location.

The historic open-air market offers acclaimed restaurants and cafes, fresh meats, poultry, seafood, produce, flowers and a diverse selection of gifts from arond the world. Portions of Farmers Market are designated as an Official Los Angeles Cultural & Historical Landmark. James Dean is believed to have eaten breakfast at Farmers Market on the day of his fatal car crash (9/30/55).

When popular rock and pop music stars want to hang out with some music, they often stop in at Farmers Market’s karaoke or visit The Gumbo Pot Mardi Gras celebration where, sometimes, stars get up and jam with the band.

Farmers Market is still the hippest, coolest, most entertaining place in Los Angeles (and maybe in the whole wide world).
