Monterey County: A World Class Golf Destination

From the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi to the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Links, Monterey County boasts some of the finest fairways in the world. With over 20 public and private courses to choose from all within easy distance it is easy to see why visitors plan their entire vacation schedule around a single round of golf.From ocean front to ocean view holes, hillside to riverside, golfing on the Monterey Peninsula goes far beyond the Pebble Beach experience.

Two of the newest gems open to the public are Bayonet and Black Horse golf courses both located on the former Fort Ord Army Base. Originally built for active duty, retired military and their guests only, the courses were opened to the public in 1997, after the Army base was closed. Both 18-hole courses boast sweeping panoramic views of the Monterey Bay, and a rewarding experience to players of all skill levels.
