San Diego Surf Cup
The San Diego Surf Cup, a nationally – recognized premiere youth soccer tournament, takes places each summer at the San Diego Polo Club in Del Mar.
Hundreds of players, aged 10 – 18, from 30 states and several countries from around the world compete for the prestigious Surf Cup Championship title.
Along with the thousands of spectators, this is also a Showcase event for college coaches, with more than 250 coaches in attendance.
Thunderboats
Each September, ' Thunderboats, ' the world’s fastest racing boat that exceed speeds of 210 mph, compete in the World Series of Power Boat Racing on Mission Bay.
The festivities also include air shows, fireworks and virtual rides.
Football fans can catch exciting post – season college teams from the PAC 10 and
the Big 12 Square off at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.
Prior to the game,the Culligan Holiday Bowl Parade entertains guests along the Embarcadero in downtown San Diego.
Suzuki Rock”n’ Roll Marathon
The Suzuki Rock”n’ Roll Marathon in June is the most entertaining marathon in the United States.
Featuring 26 bands at entertainment centers along each mile, the 26.2 – mile course starts at Balbao Park,
runs through Hillcrest, skirts the World – Famous San Diego Zoo and the downtown Gaslamp Quarter, travels up Highway 163,
races by Sea World San Diego and around neighboring beach and bay communities and finishes on the Parade Deck at the historic
Marine Corps Recruit Depot in the Point Loma area.
