Theatre On The Square
Built in 1924 as a stately, Mediterranean-Gothic style meeting hall for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, this building was transformed in 1981when the Elks leased out much of it to retail outlets, a hotel and Jonathan Reinis and Joseph Perrotti, who had a vision of turning the assembly hall into a grand theater. After restoring tiles, decorative wood paneling and gilded frescos, the space was transformed into an elegant and intimate theater.
Open in this capacity since 1982, Theatre On The Square has attracted many famous faces including Mickey Rooney, Bill Clinton, Helen Hunt, Matthew Broderick and John Forsyth. Having a well-deserved reputation for showcasing some of the country's finest theater, the venue is also known for launching innovative and successful works. Rentals are not available due to the prevalence of long running shows.
