The U.S. Mint is where over five billion coins are made each year and there are free 20 minute tours on weekdays.
It is also the second largest storehouse of gold bullion in the U.S. after Fort Knox.
The gift shop has many unique coins not available anywhere else, and there is a small museum on the history of money.
The United States Mint offers free tours to the public Monday - Friday on the hour from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Mint is closed weekends and all Federal Holidays. Reservations are required and can be made on the www.usmint.gov site.
During the busy Spring/Summer season, May through August, we recommend that you make reservations as soon as possible as tours fill up quickly.
Tours are limited to 50 visitors per tour.
Group tour reservations for schools, clubs, and other organizations must be made at least two weeks
in advance by calling 303-405-4759 and are subject to availability.
Walk-up Tour Reservations are available at the Mint Tour Reservations Booth on Cherokee Street.
The booth is open M-F from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for walk up reservations and stand-by tickets.
Stand-by tickets are not a guarantee of admittance to the tour and visitors will be admitted on a space-available-basis.
There may be days when walk-up tour reservations/stand-bys are not available.
