Denver Zoo
You never know what the gorillas might be up to today. There are more than 4000 animals at the Denver Zoo representing 700 species.
Nationally, the Denver Zoo has the 4th highest attendance of any zoo with admission fees and the 7th most diverse animal collection.
Highlights include Primate Panorama, a seven-acre, $14 million facility with 29 different species of primates,
ranging from a 6-ounce pygmy marmoset to the gigantic lowland gorilla Koundu, who at 619 pounds is the largest gorilla in any zoo in the world.
Tropical Discovery is an entire rainforest under glass with over 1,200 animals. Visitors journey through a mountain
cave, tropical streams and waterfalls, temple ruins, a jungle river and an offshore coral reef, getting a chance to see some of the strangest creatures on earth.
The world’s largest indoor Komodo Dragon exhibit showcases the largest living lizards in the world, growing up to 10 feet
in length and weighing over 300 pounds.
Interactive adventures might include African dancing on the plaza, Native American stories on wolves or Japanese fan dancing near the cranes.
