Longmont, Colorado is a 80'000 people city approx. 30 minutes (33 mi / 53 km) north from Denver.
"Longmont" combines the words "Long" and "mont". The former stems from the mountaineer Stephen H. Long who is the eponym of a prominent mountain named Longs Peak (14,259. ft / 4,346 m).
The latter, "mont", is the French word for mountain.
Longmont is quickly developing into a diverse and modern city and is stepping out of the shadow of its well-known neighbor 'Boulder'. Longmont is investing into reviving the Old Town District, mainly the vicinity of Main Street.
