Everybody knows: Pelicans aren't shy! They are where fishermen are and they sometimes spend more time on waiting for fishes that are thrown back into water than it would take them to catch their own meal.

Pelicans can be studied all along the beaches and a great place to watch them are the piers on Anna Maria Island: at the top of the island is the Anna Maria City Pier and in Bradenton Beach is another Pier.

Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary

For all who want to learn more about them the right place is the Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary, a rehabilitation center for Pelicans and other birds in Sarasota, Florida.
This is a 30 min south (you can drive over the islands) drive and the sanctuary is adjacent of Mote Marine, where you may deside to stop by to watch Manatees and dolphins.
Address: 1708 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota, FL.
