World Golf Hall of Fame
So it is
fitting that golf ’s legendary
players should be
honored at its ultimate
destination, the 75,000-
square-foot World Golf Hall
Through a combination
of both traditional and
interactive exhibit areas, the
World Golf Hall of Fame pays
homage to the game’s greatest
players and contributors.
For the first time in history, all of the major golf organizations have united to support
and honor golf and its greatest players and contributors.
The World Golf Hall of Fame - the heart of the World Golf Village - includes exhibits on many aspects of the game.
The facility's overriding exhibit philosophy is to balance exhibits that capture the
traditions, values, and historical attributes of golf with exciting and
contemporary exhibits that utilize interactive technologies.
The goal of the World Golf Hall of Fame area is to introduce golfers and non-golfers alike
to the game's greatest players and contributors, and their remarkable accomplishments.
The 71 members of the former Hall of Fame in Pinehurst,
NC, and LPGA Hall of Fame were "grand fathered" into the new facility.
Two new induction avenues have been created for professional golfers:
the PGA TOUR Ballot and an International Ballot.
The LPGA Tour administers its own point-based system for induction.
A Veteran's category was established in 2000 to honor any male or female professional
who played the bulk of his/her career before 1974 and may not have received proper recognition.
The lifetime achievement category also was created in 2000
to honor and recognize outstanding service and accomplishments spanning a career in golf.
