The Oldest house in the oldest city

The foundation of the oldest house in the oldest city predates the destruction of the city by the British in 1702.
The material of the house walls is “coquina,” a rock-like combination of sea shell remains and mortar, with which a good many building experiments were made in old times, in this part of the country. That portion of the old house has stood the wear and tear of almost three hundred and fifty years, though the wood finish which you see is of course modern.
Guided tours provide a vivid portrayal of what life was like for the Spanish colonists who lived here for nearly 250 years.
