Downtown Sarasota

Main Street in Sarasota and the closeby streets describes the city's downtown with art festivals, restaurants and the popular farmer's market.
Lots of new construction revived this area in tha past years when it seems to die slowly. But now the energy has returned and many new hotels, shops, restaurants make downtown a place to meet.

Downtown is home to a number of theater and art venues, which includes everything from modern theater to opera and art galleries to museums, for example the Ringling Museum & Garden which is a "must-see" in Sarasota.

The Island Park connects downtown with the Sarasota marina. An open air bar invites for a coffee or cool drink and boat charters are available as well. The park is ideal for strolling along the marina and popular among joggers. If you are looking over the bay you may see Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, an idyllic place with tropical plants and colorful flowers.
