Saint Paul is the center of what might be called a cultural revolution.
Saint Paul is the center of what might be called a cultural revolution. Theater thrives, opera flourishes and all
arts are supported by patrons and community-minded corporations, keeping tickets affordable. Its downtown
core is a complete 'cultural district' featuring a dozen theaters and museums and many galleries and arts
The city's commitment to culture is strong. The use of art in public places and the involvement of artists in the
design of the city complement a lively calendar of cultural events. Opportunities and encouragement have
attracted artists and entertainers and the resulting abundance of talent has in turn attracted film and television
A collaboration of arts organizations formed the Saint Paul Arts and Culture Partnership for the purpose of pro-
moting the Saint Paul arts community in a unified fashion.
A bimonthly events calendar listing arts activities of
the 50 member organizations is available at information centers around town. Saint Paul also supports the arts
with STAR grants, a program in which 10 percent of a city-wide sales tax, enacted to fund the Saint Paul
RiverCentre expansion, is dedicated to arts organizations and projects, large and small. These programs and
initiatives help Saint Paul maintain a diverse and thriving arts community.
