Steuben Parade

1958 the first German-American Steuben Parade took place. Named after General Frederick Wilhelm von Steuben, a major player in the American Independence War.

Hundreds of German-American Organizations are represented. The Parade’s aim is to provide the American public in general and our civic leaders in particular with a reminder of the part played by germanic immigrants and their descendants in the development of the United States of America. The Parade is to instill in those with Germanic heritage a deep-rooted sense of pride of origin and accomplishment.

Statistics tell that German-Americans are the largest ethnic group in the USA.

The Parade is sponsored by the German-American Committee of Greater New York, Inc. and its organization is the sole responsibility of the German-American Steuben Parade Committee.
