May be the most famous tavern in the USA? At least in Philadelphia. The City Tavern.
This is the place which was called the "most genteel tavern in America" by John Adams and it is considered the "unofficial site" of the First Continental Congress held by the Founding Fathers of the United States.
The place was built in 1773 and after it burned down March 22, 1834, it was eventually rebuilt in the 1970's.
Nowadays it is a restaurant owned by Chef Walter Staib who keeps history alive with the dishes and the interior decoration.
