Catch the world-renowned WaterFire installation between May and October,
where nearly 100 bonfires are set to music along the downtown rivers!
Nearly one hundred bonfires illuminate the waters just above the surface of the Providence River and thread through one half mile of downtown Providence’s WaterPlace Park.
Stroll along cobbled riverbank walkways leading to Waterplace Park as fires dance atop the water and fill the
air with the rich scent of cedar while the music of many cultures and rhythms echoes from Venetian-style foot bridges.
WaterFire Providence was originally commissioned in 1994 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of First Night Providence. Previous installations have so enthralled audiences that Mayor Cianci and arts and civic center leaders requested that WaterFire Providence be adopted as a signature piece for the city.
