Operating Hours & Seasons
The South Rim
The South Rim is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are available and facilities are open year round.

The North Rim
Visitor services and facilities inside the national park on the NORTH RIM are only open from mid-May to mid-October. Weather permitting, the North Rim is open for day use only following the close of facilities in mid-October. During this time there are no services or overnight facilities available inside the park. The road from Jacob Lake to the North Rim (Highway 67) is subject to closure with little or no notice during this interval and then remains closed until mid-May.

Lodging in the Park
Lodging at the North Rim, South Rim, and Phantom Ranch in the inner Canyon is handled by Xanterra Parks & Resorts. Online Booking available, please see our WebLink below.

North Rim: Open From mid-May to mid-October
South Rim: Open All Year, a variety of lodging possibilities is available.
Inner Canyon Phantom Ranch Lodging: Open All Year

Lodging outside of the Park
Out-of Park Lodging North Rim: Open All Year
Lodging facilities are available outside the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park just past the park boundary; in Jacob Lake, Arizona; and in
Kanab, Utah.

Out-of-Park Lodging South Rim: Open All Year
A variety of lodging facilities are available outside the Grand Canyon National Park in Tusayan, just 7 miles south of the South Rim; in Williams, 60 miles south on Highway 64; and in Flagstaff, 80 miles south on Highway 180.

Visitor Centers
Canyon View Information Plaza, South Rim
Open All Year 8am - 5pm
Canyon View Information Plaza is located at Mather Point. Access is via shuttle bus to Canyon View Information Plaza. Ride the Village Route bus. Additional open hours after 5pm vary seasonally. Desert View Information Center, South Rim
Open All Year 9am - 5pm (Open daily as staffing permits)
Located at the park's east entrance on the South Rim. North Rim Visitor Center
Open from mid-May to mid-October 8am to 6pm
Adjacent to the parking lot on Bright Angel Peninsula.
The North Rim Visitor Center is open from mid-May to mid-October only. For the 2004 season, visitor services and facilities inside the national park on the North Rim will be open from May 10 - October 14, 2004.

Pets must be leashed at all times. Leashed pets are allowed on trails above the rim and throughout the developed areas. Pets are not permitted below the rim, in park lodging (hotel rooms), or on park buses. The only exception is service animals. Leashed pets are permitted in Mather Campground, Desert View Campground, and Trailer Village. Persons wishing to take a service animal below the rim must check-in first at the Backcountry Information Center. A kennel is available at the South Rim. It is open daily: 7:30am - 5pm. Call (928) 638-0534 for information. Reservations are suggested.
