Cross Country Skiing North & East Shore
Donner Memorial State Park
Ski the short, scenic loop trail which traverses around Donner Lake or
take one of the guided tours periodically offered by state park rangers.
Browse through the informative museum, built on the site of the Donner Party's winter encampment, which explains the rich pioneer history of the area. The state park is located 3 miles west of Truckee on Highway 80. Sno-Park permits are required. Snowmobiles are NOT allowed. For more information on the area or guided tours, call the State Park at (530) 5820 7892.
Tahoe Meadows
A great place to try moonlight skiing, this fairly flat meadow offers a great place to exercise.
Snowmobiles are allowed. From Incline Village, take Highway 28 to Highway 431 (Mt. Rose Highway). Just before the summit,
where the road levels out, look for a large meadow to the right. Park in the turn-out by the meadow.
Spooner Lake State Park
Many trips are possible in the state park. Try the loop trail around Spooner Lake for a short trip or ski the road to Marlette
Lake for a longer, more strenuous outing. This Nevada State Park is located at the junction of Highway 50 and Highway 28 by Spooner
Summit. Day use fees are charged. Moonlight guided tours are offered for a minimal fee. For more information and a detailed trail map call
(702) 749-5349. Snowmobiles are NOT allowed.
