Canyonlands National Park Weather and Climate

Best time to travel

Spring and fall are ideal for Canyonlands because temperatures are moderate. During summer the Colorado River dries out more and more and the water level is low. This even accumulates over many dry summers.

Climate and Temperatures

The climate in Canyonlands is extremely dry. Most precipitation falls in early spring and late summer. Summer highs often exceed 38 degree C (100 F), with lows around 16 C (60 F). Fall and Spring temperatures are milder, with highs between 21 - 30 degrees C ( 70's and 80's F). Winter temperatures range from highs between 4-13 C ( 40's and 50's F) to lows well below freezing. Snow is usually light to moderate.
