'The Peach State'.
Georgia is among the nation's top producers of peaches, pecans and peanuts.
The high quality of the peaches was reason the make it the state fruit and nickname of the state. The Welcome Sign which the visitor sees when entering the state by car shows the oeach as well. The state was named in honor of King George II of England. Georgia later became the final of the original 13 American colonies.
