Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, Ecola State Park

Haystack Rock with its unusual shape is the landmark of Cannon Beach, a beach community with a wonderful small beach town flair. Lovely small shops and cafes make it easy a have a relaxed vacation. Hotels, Motels, and nice B&B's make it easy to find a place to stay.
Cannon Beach is located on US 101, ca. 25 mi south of Astoria and ca. 70 mi west of Portland. Just 5-10 minutes north of Cannon Beach is Ecola State Park whose name derived from an Indian word for whale.
Standing on the cliffs the visitor has a gorgeous view along the coast. Indian Beach is a great place for beach walks and watching the sunset.
A day-use park pass costs ca. $3. The park offers picnic areas and several viewpoints.
Primitive cabins are available at Tillamook Head, ca. 1.5 miles from the Indian Beach Trailhead.
